Safeguarding is a shared responsibility across our Branches, Regions and Provincial structures. Our safeguarding arrangements are designed to help members, volunteers, tutors and organisers understand their responsibilities, recognise concerns, know where to seek advice, and respond appropriately when support is needed.
Our Safeguarding Policy sets out the organisation’s formal safeguarding framework. It is supported by a range of practical guides, checklists and resources intended to help Branches and Regions put that policy into practice.

Safeguarding Health Check Tool
The Comhaltas in Britain Safeguarding Health Check is a practical tool for Branches and Regions.
It helps you take a practical look at safeguarding in your Branch or Region — recognising what is already working well, identifying anything worth strengthening, and showing where support is available.
The Health Check is intended to support improvement, not to catch organisations out. It is perfectly acceptable to answer “I don’t know” or “I need to check” where something is unclear. Those answers can be useful in identifying where further guidance or support may be helpful.
The Health Check does not replace the Safeguarding Policy. The Policy remains the governing document; the Health Check helps Branches and Regions consider how its principles are being applied in practice.
Access to the Health Check is provided through a secure link issued by the Provincial Safeguarding Team.
