Each year a province hosts an All-Britain Fleadh with 2024 being set in the North of England. This is a competition where winners from each province (Scotland, Northern, Midlands, London & South) go to the host's region to compete with each other for a chance to perform at the All-Ireland Fleadh.
The first Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann was held in Mullingar in 1951 and there is a long tradition of performing and celebrating Irish Traditional music. Instruments competing include: Fiddle, Button Accordion, Flute, Whistle, Piano Accordion, Concertina, Uilleann Pipes, Irish Harp, Moth Organ, Banjo, Mandolin, Piano, Melodeon and voice. In a mixture of styles like duets, Céilí, marching band and so much more.
You can also find other Irish cultural traditions like lilting, composing tunes, storytelling and dancing. Both performed in English and the Irish language (Gaeilge).
