Cambridge CCE 30th Anniversary!

8th of November 2023

Congratulations to Cambridge Comhaltas on celebrating their 30th Anniversary over the weekend. The branch was established in 1993 and 30 years later in 2023 they're celebrating a milestone. The branch has found its' home at the Rathmore Club since 1997, with classes happening every Wednesday evening.

In 1994, the branch had its first qualifier for the All-Britain Fleadh with Amy Hall and in 1996, its first qualifier for the All-Ireland Fleadh (Ellen Cleary). Alan Mcleod became their first All-Ireland medal winner in 2001.

Comhaltas in Britain is made up a large network of volunteers who continue the Irish traditions in Britain. Without our teachers, students, supporters, trustees, and volunteers we can't continue passing down our traditions, heritage and stories.

Irish Traditional music is an oral history of Ireland and Irish immigration to Britain. Without people teaching and sharing their heritage important skills and language will be lost. Seeing our branches support the grassroots in their local area to be part of our culture and celebrate their 30th anniversary has been an amazing step for Cambridge Comhaltas.
