Why you should choose us to be your Charity of the Year

  • We are unique

We are the only charity that works nationally to bring together communities of all ages to learn, share and experience the culture of Ireland through music, song, dance, and storytelling.

  • We strengthen communities

We have 23 branches across England, Scotland, and Wales with our network of c1200 members spanning across all generations. It’s an opportunity for our members to express themselves, raise their confidence and most importantly brings people together through their love of music.

According to the Community Life Survey 2021/2022 Wellbeing & Loneliness, young people aged 16-24 were 10% more likely to say they feel lonely often/always. Those living in the most deprived areas were more likely to feel lonely often/always than those living in the least deprived areas (9% compared with 4%). Comhaltas in Britain provides a space for individuals who are struggling with social isolation and poor mental wellbeing. We specifically target schools and areas with the highest levels of deprivation around Britain.

  • We will support you through your fundraising

There are lots of ways that you can fundraise for us, whether it’s through a team bake sale, dress down day at work or cycling the Wild Atlantic Way, we want your fundraising to be fun and we will support you every step of the way.

The difference your support makes

The benefits of learning Irish Traditional Music are far reaching. As well as building musical skills, our member’s confidence is increased as they are given the freedom to express themselves creatively; increasing communication skills (especially in young people); creating intergenerational links and stronger communities with a shared identity around each branch.
