Welcome to
the new

Edinburgh
CCE
We are so proud to announce a new branch to join our Comhaltas in Britain family. Edinburgh CCE recently had their inaugural meeting with over 30 people in attendance.
New beginnings for Edinburgh CCE
25th of September 2024
This will be the first branch in Edinburgh and is a big step forward for the Scottish region. The strong turnout at the inaugural meeting shows there is great interest and enthusiasm in the community. With the branch situated in such a culturally vibrant city like Edinburgh, and its proximity to the Irish embassy, it’s bound to thrive and make a lasting impact.
“We had been aware of the growing appetite for a Comhaltas branch in Edinburgh for some time. When we reached out to Paddy, he really helped us bring it all together. I’m excited to see what this first year brings and how we can build a strong community here.” David Lennon, Chair of Edinburgh CCE
“We’re delighted to welcome the Edinburgh branch to the Scottish region and bring them into the fold. This year we’ve seen two new branches formed over 80 miles apart. It really shows the talent and enthusiasm in connecting with our culture and sharing it with all generations across Scotland.” Jim McKenna, Chair of the Scottish Region
Comhaltas in Britain has experienced a resurgence in new branches following the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Many branches struggled as lockdowns prevented members from attending sessions and classes, leading to a loss of engagement. However, the period also showcased the resilience and passion within the community to preserve Irish music, dance, and culture.
If you’re interested in joining Edinburgh CCE, you can contact them here. They’ll be having the regular session and classes on the Monday. Comhaltas is a voluntary led organisation and we can’t continue without your support.
